Ashmead College is the present
day incarnation of Seattle Massage School, my alma mater and
first bodywork teaching venue. I matriculated in the fall
of 1992 and graduated a year later. One year after that I
began teaching Kinesiology, Massage Theory and Practice, Hydrotherapy,
and Professional Development courses. I also taught AIDS and
Massage and supervised Student Clinic.
There is much to learn about teaching beginners how to touch
others therapeutically and understand the amazing and complicated
task of human anatomy. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity
to learn this at Seattle Massage School. Thanks to Paul Rerucha,
Dawn Schmidt and the rest of the admin and education staff
that coached and mentored me along this path.

The Barlen Institute of Massage
in Ellensburg, WA is one of the newest massage education venues
in the state. The school is owned by Tim and Theresa Barlen
and located inside a beautifully renovated warehouse in downtown
Ellensburg near Central Washington University. Theresa’s
Bluestone Academy is also in the same building.
Tim is the first massage school owner in North America to
say YES to creating space in his thorough 10 month curriculum
for a 2-day weekend workshop in abdominal and visceral techniques.
Love Your Guts Seminars presents Intro to Belly Massage in
the spring quarter of their program after students have completed
a good chunk of their A&P education and sufficient hands-on
practice time under their belts. Professionals are welcome
to study alongside students and faculty.

Discover U is an adult education
venue presenting short evening and weekend learning opportunities
from art to computers and wine tasting to health care. I had
been a happy learner / customer for several years before applying
to teach with my colleague and friend Karen Calara, PT. Our
class is called Self Care for Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, and

The Louisville School of
Massage (LSM) is the Louisville, KY teaching venue for Love
Your Guts Seminars - and also my hometown. I was born in Philadelphia,
PA while my young and busy parents were making babies, getting
masters degrees, and following General Electric’s engineering
training program around the country, I actually call Louisville,
KY my hometown. I also went to college at the University of
KY in Lexington - the home of the wildcats!
LSM is owned and directed by Brent Williams, LMT. Brent and
his wife Katherine have generously and kindly supported my
CE teaching relationship in Louisville since 1998. Many blessings
to them and may abundance and joy for this work come to their
practitioners, teachers and students.
